The annual programme surveys a national sample of adults aged 19 to 64 years and aims to provide a comprehensive, cross-sectional picture of dietary habits and nutritional status of the population of the UK. Talk to your family doctor to find out if this information applies to you and to get more information on this subject. Then, use that information to help you quit. The National Diet and Nutrition Survey was originally set up in 1992 by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and has been run by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) since 2000. Dietary data is collected using an unweighed four day diary, blood and urine samples, information on dietary habit collected through face to face interviews. Methodology: Pre- 2008: cross sectional survey of adults aged 19-64 years (with ad hoc boosts for 64 years). Post- April 2008: a rolling programme of data collected from a representative sample of 1000 adults and children.
